Family Matters

Family Matters was established as a registered charity (No. 1019861) in November 1990.

to provide immediate intervention on behalf of children, adolescents and adults who are suffering the harrowing aftermath of recent or historical abuse
to restore personal esteem, replace dysfunctional behaviour, correct mistaken beliefs about self and others, repair self-destructive behaviour, encourage positive mental attitudes and enable the victims of sexual abuse to live worthwhile and fulfilling lives
to prevent future dysfunctional family dynamics which may lead to abusive behaviour by positively enhancing good parenting skills and preventing further abuse
to avoid in- or out-patient psychiatric care and prevent relapse
to prevent scapegoating and rejection
to put a stop to the repetitive cycle of abuse
to promote the education of healthy sexual attitudes and improve inter-personal and relationship skills
to support non-abusing family members and the partners of survivors
to provide appropriate training for professional workers
to raise awareness of child protection
to alleviate the pressure on Statutory Services.
