SSAFA Forces Help is a national
organization which helps all servicemen and their families in times of
need.
Its aim is to do everything
possible to reach, and attempt to alleviate need or distress among Service
and Ex-Service men & women who have served in any branch of the Armed
Forces, their wives, families, widows and dependants.
How do those in need contact
SSAFA Forces Help ?
1. SERVICE UNIT -
Contact SSAFA Forces Help in cases where a man or woman is anxious about
conditions at home, and wants a quick report. If there is a question of
compassionate leave or discharge SSAFA Forces Help submits a full report
to the Unit concerned.
2. WIVES & PARENTS -
of serving personnel needing the man or woman
home in a hurry, perhaps because of some family tragedy, can apply to SSAFA
Forces Help locally. Addresses are available in Main Post Offices and Citizens
Advice Bureaux.
3. EX-SERVICE -
cases come by personal approach to SSAFA Forces
Help from the families themselves, from the Social Services Departments,
the Regimental & Corps Funds and other Service Charities who ask SSAFA
Forces Help to visit and report on most of their cases. Many are elderly,
with financial problems. Some require advice and counselling, not necessarily
cash. Some with physical handicaps, need special equipment & adaptations
which cannot always be provided from statutory sources.
